Whack the Bear is a small fan-made browser game built around the $ANSEM community. This page explains, plainly, what data the game touches and why. It's not a large operation — there's no ad network, no analytics tracking, and no account system.
What we collect
- Leaderboard name and score. When you submit a score, the name you enter and your score are stored on our server so they can be shown on the public leaderboard. Only your best score per name is kept.
- An optional message. If you reach #1 on the leaderboard, you may be given the option to send a short message to the game's admin. This is entirely optional and only sent if you choose to write one.
- Basic request metadata. Like any web server, ours briefly sees the IP address of incoming requests. This is used only for short-lived, practical purposes: rate-limiting abusive traffic and verifying that a leaderboard submission followed an actual completed round. We don't log, sell, or build profiles from this.
What stays on your device
The game saves a few small preferences locally in your browser's localStorage — never sent to our server:
- Your last-used player name, so you don't have to retype it
- Your sound on/off preference
- Your personal best score, for the "Best Run" stat
You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this page.
Third-party services
A couple of features on this page load data directly from third-party APIs, in your browser:
- CoinGecko and DexScreener — used to show live prices and the $ANSEM chart. Your browser makes requests to these services directly, which means they receive your IP address the same way any website you visit would. We don't control their data practices; see their own privacy policies if you want details.
- X (Twitter) — if you use the "Share Score" button, it opens X's share flow. We don't send your score to X ourselves; the share text is simply pre-filled in a link you choose whether to post.
Not financial advice. The price ticker and chart on this page are shown for entertainment and informational purposes only. Nothing on this site is an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy or sell any asset. $ANSEM and other displayed tokens are volatile and carry real financial risk — do your own research before making any decisions.
Children's privacy
This game isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to the leaderboard, contact us and we'll remove it.
Data retention and removal
Leaderboard entries persist until removed. If you'd like your name/score or a submitted message taken down, reach out using the contact info below and we'll handle it.
Changes to this policy
If what the game collects changes, this page will be updated. Since there's no account or email on file, we can't notify you directly — check back here if you're curious.
